About Mission Valley
Mission Valley is the geographic center of San Diego — a long, narrow river valley running east-west between the central mesas. It's where two of the county's largest malls (Westfield Mission Valley and Fashion Valley), the SDSU Snapdragon Stadium, and dozens of high-density apartment complexes are located. Almost no one calls Mission Valley a 'neighborhood' in the traditional sense — it's more of a commercial corridor with apartments — but it's where a huge number of San Diegans live, work, and shop.
Getting Around Mission Valley
I-8 runs the entire length of the valley east-west. I-15, I-805, and SR-163 all cross north-south. The Green Line trolley runs through the valley with stations at Old Town, Fashion Valley, Mission Valley Center, Hazard Center, Rio Vista, Mission San Diego, and Stadium. Friars Road is the main local arterial.
