About Point Loma
Point Loma is the long peninsula on the western side of San Diego Bay, with some of the most expensive view properties in the county and the historic Cabrillo National Monument at its southern tip. The peninsula contains several distinct sub-neighborhoods (La Playa, Sunset Cliffs, Loma Portal, Roseville-Fleetridge) and is home to the Naval Base Point Loma, the original Spanish landing site, and the Old Point Loma Lighthouse.
Getting Around Point Loma
I-8 ends at Point Loma's eastern edge. SR-209 (Catalina Boulevard) runs the length of the peninsula to Cabrillo National Monument. Rosecrans Street is the main commercial corridor. The peninsula is car-centric but the southern part of Cabrillo Monument is walkable.
